Un año más cerramos nuestros cursos de Idiomas, con la confianza que todos nuestros estudiantes hayan alcanzado los objectivos que nos habíamos marcado.

Quiero pues, agradecer desde aquí, en primer lugar, todo el trabajo llevado a cabo por los directores de grupo y los monitores responsables de cada uno de ellos. Asimismo, agradezo a los padres la confianza que habéis tenido con Idiomas Padre Manyanet.

Trip to Alton Towers

Last Saturday we visited Alton Towers theme park, which is indeed very famous as a theme park as well as a golf resort for it is located in an old castle and its surroundings, formerly the seat of the Earls of Shrewsbury. This is probably the trip that our students have appreciated the most during the years and we definitely enjoyed as much as our older mates. And even though he had some heavy rain when we arrived, the weather got nicer as the day followed on and we even got a chance to see the sun about noon or so, but then it turned ugly once more and it rained for a bit, but that's how English weather is! Skating

Yesterday, we went to Solihull's Ice Rink one of the best places to ice skate around here. Although some of us didn't know how to skate we sure had a great time and no significant injuries as well! Here you can see some pictures taken there.

London

Last saturday we visited England's main city, London. We took a train from Birmingham New Street Station in the early morning and we arrived in London shortly after since we took a Virgin Co.train that goes a lot faster than the regular ones. Once in London we visited its main sights, such as the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey or Trafalgar Square. We all had a great time though we sure wanted to stay longer, but had to return to B'ham.

Trip to Oxford

Yesterday, we visited the city of Oxford, one of the most ancient and renown cultural centres of the world. It's magnificent colleges are known by all and now also by our students who had a great time visiting them.

They also bought the classic Oxford college hoodies, as you're about to see in the photos.

Hi there! After solving some technical problems we are now pleased to present Aston Group Blog for 2011, in which we will post pictures and text so that you can check out what we do!

The first day we took a little tour around the center of Birmingham in order to get in touch with the public transport system and so on.

The following photos were taken in front of Birmingham's Bullring, a very famous shopping center.

Un saludo desde los diferentes “blogs” de nuestra página Web, con el deseo que se haga realidad el lema escogido para este Verano 2011: “Un idioma, un país, una ilusión…”

Así pues, que todos y todas sepamos aprovechar esta oportunidad de aprender, mejorar y profundizar nuestros conocimientos del inglés y que verdaderamente nuestro aprendizaje sea del todo exitoso. Skating

Today, we went to class in the morning just like everyday, then we went to the Bullring and we met at Moor St. Station at 13.30 pm to go to the Ice Rink in Solihull, in order to ice skate. Once at the ice rink, we met the Solihull guys, one of them fell down and got his eyebrown busted. Paloma fell down as well.
After the skating we went back home.

Alton Towers

Today we went to Alton Towers, where we had a wonderful time. For people who does not know what Alton Towers is, we'll just say that it is a theme park situated in southern England. Almost everyone enjoyed the big rides, such as Oblivion or Air, that is except for Ciro and Valeria, who normally get dizzy. Everybody thought that Air was the best ride. The only problem was that there were too many insects. In the end it was a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed it a lot.

Today we had classes in the morning. We started to work on our presentation on England for the course's finale. After that we went down to the cantine and the chef surprised us with free cakes for all the spanish students. After the classes we caught a train to Lichfield. Lichfield has a wonderful gothic cathedral amd the people there is very kind and gentle.

Bowling, 12th July

On Monday we were working and studying very hard from 9:15 to 12:30. After that we went to Burger King in order to have lunch. Later on we went bowling at Acocks Green. Oriol Julve scored 139 points, he was very lucky. Carmen fell down on the bowling alley, that was really funny. Although it rained a lot it was a wonderful day.

Last Saturday we went to London by train. We arrived at Marylebone station, there we could go with monitors to see the most importants places in the town, or go by ourself by underground.
Everybody could see Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London Eye...
We also could go shopping and buy souvenirs from London.
It was a very sunny day and hot.

Today we visited Oxford. We went by coach. Once in Oxford, we visited the main colleges, such as Christ Church. After that we had free time to go shopping around the city centre. Some of us bought a jumper with Oxford University's logo on it. Eventually we arrived at 7.30h and we went back home.

Yesterday was the first day and we started classes. We did three hours, each hour with a different teacher. After the classes we had lunch in the cantine and then we went to visit the town center. After that we did sports at Aston University and one hour later we went to the swimming pool. Then we had free time before returning home.

At nine o'clock we took the train. When we arrived to London we made a tour where we went to visit Big Ben, the houses of the parliment, we saw the London eye but we didn't get on it because it was expensive. Then, we went to Picadilly and after that some people had free time to do whatever they wanted. Most of us went to New Oxford Street to buy some souvenirs from London.

The other day we were visiting Oxford in the afternoon. The coach couldn't get us to the city centre so we had to take the map and find out the way to it.We could see Oxford Story, where almost everybody bought sweatshirt and after that we visited Christ Church, used to film Harry Potter's movies. Finally, we got the coach punctually and we arrived at B'ham. It was a nice experience.

We are in Birmingham yet. We have arrived to London from Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao. Then we have taken a coach that left us in nthe swimmingpool of Aston University. Then the families pick us up and we have arrived to our houses

Last saturday we went to London by train, we had to wake up very early. Finally we arrived to London at 10 o'clock.
We went to the Madame Tussaud museum, then we went to Buckingham palace and we saw the guards. After that we saw the Big Ben and we also saw Harry potter's station.
At 6 o'clock we took the train back to B'ham.

Our first week with our families in Aston

Hello daddys and mummys,

We are happy with the families and the food is not as bad as we thought. We are only 23 students in Aston, but we are very happy.

On Thursday we did a test to know what level we were, to separate in two groups. Then we went to visit Aston.

On Friday we had class in the morning a later we went to the ice skating, we had fun.

On Saturday we went to Liverpool and we saw the Beatles museum and the Liverpool stadium.

On Sunday we stayed with the families.

On Monday we went to the ice skating too.

On Tuesday we had classes and then we went to do sports.
